MCS Baseball Takes First Lead of Season in Double Header

Varsity boys’ baseball had its first lead in a game this season versus Mansfield Senior in the second game of a double header.

Mansfield Christian Flames Varsity fell to Mansfield Senior 7-6 on Saturday on the final play of the game.

Mansfield Christian collected nine hits and Senior had five in a high scoring affair.  MCS opened up scoring in the first inning, when Brock Rentzel singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.  Flames notched five runs in the second inning.  The big inning was thanks to singles by Isaac Hillman, Rentzel, and Adam McLaughlin.

Ethan Bishop toed the rubber for the Flames.  Hillman threw one and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen.

The Flames racked up nine hits in the game.  Will Connell and Rentzel each managed multiple hits for MCS.  Rentzel and Connell each collected two hits to lead MCS.
