Boys’ Swim Team Breaks Records
Swimming, the most successful winter sport at MCS so far, has recently broken records that the previous year’s MCS team had set. Led by senior team captain, Mitchell Ballenger, the team powered through to beat multiple records. The swim team swam in the Mid Buckeye Conference swim meet on January 27th. The boys’ team believed they had the win in the bag until they had recounted and discovered that they finished in second place by five points, while the girls finished in fourth. The boys won eight out of twelve events, set 5 conference records, and set 4 school records.
The boys did amazing in the Mid Buckeye Conference swim meet. Adam Granger set the 100 backstroke school record and won first place in the 200 freestyle. Kuane Whitt got third place in 100 breaststroke, while John Adams finished 2nd in 50 freestyle. Evan Trumpower set the MBC record and won the 100 breaststroke. He also won the 200 individual medleys. Mitchell Ballenger, senior team captain, set the MBC record for and won both the 100 butterfly and the 500 freestyle. In the relays, Mitchell, Adam, Evan, and John swam. They not only won but also set the MBC Record for the relay and the 200 medley relay.
