The NFL started in 1920 on October 3rd, there are only two current teams left from the original teams. Every Thanksgiving we celebrate what we are thankful for and watch the football games that on TV. Thanksgiving is a time meant for family and friends, but we waste the precious time we have with our loved ones to watch football.

This tradition started in 1934 with Lions former owner George Richards. Richards was tired of being less popular than other local teams so he took a risk, Richard’s scheduled a game on Thanksgiving. The Lions were playing the world champions, the Chicago Bears, in this game with a sold-out crowd of 25,000 so many people came to watch this game on a day that’s meant for family.

Football is a way of life for some and for others a way to entertain themselves, but let’s not forget to remember why we should be thankful.
