Labels Vs. Love

In today’s society, we are surrounded by labels and titles given to us by most everyone we come in contact with. Few of them are uplifting and most are degrading and constricting. We are put into groups and are expected to stay there and be happy with it.

Jesus, on the other hand, went against the status quo. He hung around the people that society called sinners, outcasts and thought to be unforgivable. Jesus didn’t use labels, instead, he loved and that was the example he gave to all Christians.

John 13:34 says “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” Christ loved us even to death on a cross can we not love others enough not to insult them with degrading labels? Let us hope that today (and every day) we choose love over labels.
